Protecting your carpeting should never come before having fun with your family. When arts and crafts time gets a little out of control and you find glue on your carpeting, don't fret, you can get it out with ease. Here's how.
You will need a few things:
- Plastic putty knife
- Scissors
- White vinegar
- Warm water
- Clean white cloths
- Sponge
- Styrofoam plate
- Paper towels
- Masking tape

The sooner you get to work cleaning the glue out of your carpeting, the better. Get a Styrofoam plate and cut a hole in the center of it that is slightly larger than the spot of glue on the carpet. Use the masking tape to tape the plate over the spot with the spot centered in the hole that you've cut.
Get some paper towels and blot the glue repeatedly without using much pressure. You want to clean the glue up out of the carpet and not press it down deeper into the fibers, so be gentle.
Use White Vinegar
Pour some white vinegar onto a clean cloth and begin blotting the glue. Replace your cloth often so that you are cleaning the glue up and not pressing the glue that you've already cleaned out of the carpet back into it.
Rinse Well
Fill a bucket with very warm water and grab your sponge. Dip the sponge in the warm water and then wring it out. You want the sponge to be wet, but not dripping wet. Blot the spot and rinse the sponge. Repeat this step several times and then blot the area dry with clean cloths.
Dried Glue
If the glue has had time to dry, you can still win the battle. Simply grab a plastic putty knife and scrape the glue off of the carpet. If you have used basic crafting glue that is water soluble, you can get a sponge and very warm water and blot the area. Once the glue begins to soften, use the putty knife to scrape it out of the fibers.
If the glue isn't water soluble, use the scissors to trim the tips of the carpet to remove the glue as best you can.
